Welcome to being an Activator!
Who is an Activator?
Activators are trained to deliver the Smash It or It’s Wicket! programmes. Activators may be existing coaches, volunteers, members, parents or players (aged 14+ for Smash It or 18+ for It’s Wicket!) that would like to be involved in delivering these programmes. Activators need to be organised, flexible and keen to encourage participation and enjoyment!
What support do Activators receive?
Activators will be provided with training, resources, gear and access to a whole network of Activators across Ireland! They will be part of the new wave of cricket enthusiasts, players, coaches, volunteers and fans that aim to bring to life this brand new, fun and safe programme!
Activator Training Platform
Activator training consists of an online training module, a face-to-face training module and online Safeguarding training, all of which are accessible and bookable via www.mycricketlearning.ie
Safeguarding and Vetting
There are three categories for Vetting and Safeguarding:
Group 1: Coaches aged 18 years of age and over
Coaches aged 18 years of age and over must:
(1) be vetted through Garda Vetting or Access NI, and
(2) Complete a Sport Ireland/Sport Northern Ireland-approved Safeguarding 1 (ROI)/ Safeguarding 1 Children and Young People (NI) training.
Group 2: Assistant Coaches aged 16 and 17 years of age
Assistant Coaches aged 16 and 17 years of age must complete vetting through Garda Vetting or Access NI. Any person under 18 completing a vetting application must obtain the permission of their parent/guardian.
Group 3: Assistant Coaches aged 14 and 15 years of age
Assistant Coaches aged 14 and 15 years of age cannot be vetted nor attend a safeguarding workshop.
